Learning Blender & Roblox Studio

I am currently immersed in acquainting myself with the functionalities of Blender 4.0 and Roblox Studio, with the intention of generating new User-Generated Content (UGC) and constructing assets and projects in Roblox Studio. This space will function as a documentation hub for the tutorials and projects I complete, accompanied by links to tutorials that guide my learning process.

How to Make: Simulator Street Lamps by RoBuilder

Thanks to this tutorial, I regained the confidence to delve back into learning Blender. With the guidance from the tutorial, I successfully crafted and textured my inaugural model in Blender 4.0, subsequently importing it into Roblox Studio. The aspiration to genuinely grasp Blender has been a longstanding goal, and I'm now taking meaningful strides towards achieving it.

While the tutorial proved immensely beneficial, my constructive feedback is that there were instances where I had to slow down the video and replay it to comprehend the actions being performed. Including a display of the specific key and mouse buttons used would have greatly enhanced the learning experience.

Blender Tutorial: Make A 3D Wooden Barrel by PIXXO 3D

This tutorial was incredibly informative, and one aspect I particularly appreciated was the instructor displaying the keys and mouse buttons used in the bottom left-hand corner. This feature greatly facilitated my ability to follow along seamlessly. As a result, I successfully created two distinct barrels—a realistically textured one and another tailored for use in Roblox.

What stands out as a significant achievement for me is that, for the first time, I comprehensively grasped the concept of UV unwrapping. Despite previous attempts, it was only through this tutorial that I acquired a fundamental understanding of the process as a beginner.

Vintage Alien TV by Tavi Stars

Opting not to rely on a tutorial, I chose to construct and texture a project from the ground up, incorporating the knowledge gleaned from the previous two tutorials. This approach aimed to assess my progress over the last two days and provided a valuable opportunity to enhance my comprehension of the software, reinforcing my overall learning experience. The artwork displayed on the TV screen is entirely original, created by me.

Here are the Blender models I've crafted so far. To me, it's impressive that in just three days, I've created three 3D models and effectively applied textures to them. I was highly skeptical that I would grasp UV mapping, I'm now thrilled with my progress. Establishing my own asset library within Roblox Studio is also exciting.

I went back and did some smoothing on the barrel and the TV, I love the results. I'm trying to learn the best way to smooth items as their are so many ways to do it.

Cartoon Cat Cap Modeling  by Blender Forbeg

I learned a great deal from this tutorial and I'm so pleased with how my model turned out; I think it's the best thing I have modeled so far. It taught me a lot of new techniques and ways to modify objects. I want to delve into further research to broaden my knowledge, enabling me to apply these skills in the creation of Roblox User-Generated Content (UGC). I'm also interested in discovering whether it's feasible to bake material colors onto an exportable texture to streamline texture creation and editing. Today, I installed 3DCoat Textura, but upon opening it, I felt very overwhelmed; I need to find some tutorials on using it for painting my models. Each new skill I acquire seems to unveil additional areas of knowledge to explore, which is exciting.

Today I learned that Roblox UGC accessories have to be under 4000 triangles so I'm trying to learn how to lower them on my models. The hat on the right is 7074 triangles, so I used the decimate modifier to lower the triangles on each piece of the model and lowered the total down to 3348. But the quality difference between the two is not really noticeable in blender, but once its imported into Roblox Studio, the difference is very noticeable. So this is something that I'll be researching, trying to find the best way to lower triangles while keeping the model quality.

Create This 3D Mochi Loop Animation in BLENDER by
Luli Kat Art

I think this is officially day 10 of learning Blender. Never would I imagine that would have created so much already, there are even larger projects I'm working on currently that won't be posted for a while. I would have never guessed that I would have created a short little animation in Blender by day 10.

I way underestimated this video when I saw it this morning...it was 30 mins long so I figured I would do it as a warm up and that it might take an hour or an hour and a half. I worked on it from 11am to about 8pm, I took breaks to rest, eat, and game a little bit but I didn't expect it to take so long. My body is screaming in pain from working on something for so long, but my brain/heart are happy because I had fun and learned a lot.

The tutorial covered making these cute mochi and animating them, then I had to follow another tutorial by the same person to learn how to do the background, Create Procedural Backgrounds in BLENDER, and then I had to find another tutorial to figure out how
to render the animation and compile it which was How to Render Animations in Blender. It was so not what I was expecting when I saw a 30 min tutorial. But I finished it, with a few tiny errors that I noticed when I was done...like somehow the lil mochi lost their shadow shading, but overall I'm so happy with what I learned from it. I finally understand the Proportional Editing function, for some reason I wasn't understanding it until this tutorial.

Free to Use Song: Light Step by MondayHopes

For something so cute and simple looking, this was the most complex thing I've worked on and used the most functions and features in Blender I've used so far, from the grease pencil, lattices, keyframes, moving, copying, and modifying animations on the timeline, procedural backgrounds in the Shading area, and a lot more.
