About Tavi Stars

For those who are curious, you can find more details about me here, where I delve into my life, hobbies, the journey of becoming disabled and navigating life with it., and my spiritual views.

I usually go by Tavi Stars, a name my partner thoughtfully bestowed upon me, making it particularly meaningful. I'm multiracial, multicultural, queer, neurospicy (AuDHD), a Sanātanī, a social anarchist, an old soul, happily partnered, and a proud cat mom. I use she/her pronouns, but to be completely candid, I don't place a great deal of importance on gender labels; I've never adhered strictly to societal gender norms or given them much consideration. I have a passion for connecting with new and old friends and engaging in discussions about spiritual topics, Sanātana Dharma, ancient Egyptian, Greek and Norse cultures and pantheons, the occult, space, aliens, ancient civilizations, multiracial and BIPOC culture and history, metaphysics, epistemology philosophy, eco-friendly and cruelty-free living, gaming (PC, Switch), K-Pop music, BL shows, Kdramas, and anime.

I've been with my amazing partner for over 17 years now, she's truly my hero, my best friend, and my everything. We rescued a cat (she really rescued us) shortly after we moved in together. My partner named her, her full name is Stinker, Princess Sparkle Paws. She earned the name because she was a sicky little kitty and her 💩 smelled so so bad. She has since transformed into a healthy and pampered princess, our one and only child. She is also my Emotional Support 'pet', she helps me cope with my anxiety and depression. She has literally saved my life. She is the best nurse cat and takes such good care of me. Although my partner and I are not fans of taking selfies, we somehow managed to accumulate 4,000+ photos of our beloved daughter. Yes, we proudly fit the description of eccentric cat moms.

I identify as an eclectic Sanātanī (follower of Sanātana Dharma), deeply connected to Mula Prakriti (Mother Nature) and Shri Rama. I consider myself a liberal social anarchist; I firmly believe in the fundamental human rights of food, housing, physical, mental, and dental healthcare, as well as bodily autonomy. I also hold strong views about our planet's well-being, overpopulation, excessive consumerism, and the selfishness of the wealthy. Let me be clear: I have zero tolerance for MAGA and QAnon ideology, right-wing extremism, religious fundamentalism, evangelicalism, or any form of intolerance or bigotry, including anti-2SLGBTQIA+ sentiment, racism, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, misogyny, and more. If you align with any of these beliefs, your presence is not welcomed here or on any of my social media platforms.

Becoming Disabled

⚠️ Talk of Severe Depression ⚠️

My life took a drastic turn from order to chaos when I received a diagnosis of severe and debilitating fibromyalgia. This condition compounded my existing health issues and introduced additional mental health challenges. Before fibromyalgia, I was managing hypothyroidism, panhypopituitarism, chronic carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, autism, and ADHD. After the onset of fibromyalgia, I faced new struggles, including severe anxiety and depression, as well as other health-related challenges. According to my neurosurgeon, the removal of my pituitary tumor, a macroadenoma that compressed my ocular nerves and squished my anterior pituitary lobe, might have triggered the onset of fibromyalgia. My tumor removal surgery, usually a 45-minute procedure, extended to 3 and a half hours due to its complexity.

Becoming disabled unfolded as a dark and daunting process. I had to bid farewell to a 14-year career as a Project Manager that I deeply cherished and placed a great deal of my self-worth in. Activities that were once effortless became insurmountable, saying no to friends and family became the norm an a necessity, and unexpected mental health challenges surfaced. The journey led me through two years of profound depression and anxiety, during which I isolated myself from the world, and battled with finding a reason to continue fighting. Even with a robust support system, including my partner, parents, our cat, and friends, I struggled to find purpose and a reason to stay alive. Recognizing that I was grieving the loss of my former self and career marked a turning point, enabling me to embark on a healing journey.

Chronic pain and disability reshaped my life profoundly, presenting challenges and opportunities for growth. For years, I tied my self-worth to my career and my success in it, and losing that anchor left me feeling worthless and burdensome. However, this experience taught me that I define my own self-worth, and I'm blessed with loved ones who reinforce that I am not a burden. Despite the hardships, becoming disabled brought valuable lessons — appreciation for the small joys, the importance of slowing down, celebrating even the smallest victories, and embracing life and love passionately. I discovered my own set of "superpowers," like misplacing things in my room, tripping over invisible obstacles, and somehow hurting every muscle when I do trip. Honestly, my true superpowers emerged as renewed and deepened compassion and love for both humans and animals, the ability to find light in the darkest places, and spreading joy despite my own struggles and 24/7 head-to-toe debilitating pain.
